"Consultants at PPS Group are good at giving advice - but one of their hottest tips is to come and work for the company. The public affairs consultancy's highest score was for staff strongly recommending a job there with a positive total of 91%" (Sunday Times, 100 Best Small Companies to Work For 2007) We are very proud to have been recognised in 'The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For' listings in 2007 and 2008 and to have achieved Two Star Status within the 2008 Best Companies Accreditation Standard as an 'Outstanding' place to work. We want to be the very best at what we do and to achieve this we need to recruit exceptional people, train them well and motivate them to succeed. PPS has a performance-driven culture that rewards success but also nurtures and supports staff to get the very best from them. As a result we combine high profitability with some of the lowest staff turnover in the industry. PPS offers excellent career development opportunities in dynamic and client-focused account teams working on a range of blue-chip accounts, dealing with every level of government, the media and all types of stakeholder groups. PPS is always interested in talking to account handlers at all levels who are attracted by the idea of practising public affairs from a community setting to regional government level. Graduate Training Scheme Graduate training scheme and internship places are offered on an ad hoc basis as vacancies arise. When we have a vacancy, it will be advertised in the Vacancies section of the PPS website. Summer internships
We offer a limited number of four-week internships during July. Applications are welcomed from final year graduates who are actively considering a career in a public affairs consultancy. PPS offers a competitive salary regularly benchmarked against our industry. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that you can tailor as you wish. After completing a six-month probationary period, you have the option of additional cash or can take part of your cash package as benefits (such as joining the company private health plan or the stakeholder pension scheme). The company also has a bonus scheme to reward our staff for their hard work which is performance-related and which pays out every six months. Learning & DevelopmentAt PPS, we are proud of our commitment to Learning & Development. For account handlers, it’s a process that begins with graduate training and carries on from there. Every six months we identify training needs in staff appraisals and everyone is encouraged to keep learning and growing their skills. We offer company-wide training days, a mentoring programme and structured training geared towards the needs of our Future Account Directors. Additionally, we offer a personal training allowance of £250, to be spent on the training of your choice. Internal PromotionWhere possible, PPS prefers to promote from within. This offers many opportunities to our staff as we continue to grow and strengthen our profile. Many of our staff have reached senior positions in the company and we are proud to showcase their careers. |
An example is Simon Phillips who joined PPS in 1999 as a graduate trainee and is now a company director running our Birmingham office.
